I do seem to have an on-going problem with controlling the heat of the torch but I don't think it helps that at home I have a little butane torch and at my silversmithing class we use a propane torch. I have difficultly adjusting to the differences. The test will be if I can make another ring without any problems.
Kristin :)K S Jewellery Designshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429956525981139120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7068961476522299574.post-13997467891880335702013-07-05T20:55:40.127+01:002013-07-05T20:55:40.127+01:00It looks lovely Kristin, despite the "fault&q...It looks lovely Kristin, despite the "fault"!
I'm like you and only see the bits that are wrong and beat myself up about them. I'm slowly realizing it's ok to make mistakes (it's only metal!) and use the mistakes to learn what not to do next time :DCinnamon Jewelleryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02436484670257361377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7068961476522299574.post-15719041995055107182013-07-05T18:11:01.339+01:002013-07-05T18:11:01.339+01:00Thank you so much!

I was very hesitant about making a soldered ring but my teacher is really good and clearly explained all the processes and guided me step by step. Hopefully, I can now move on to different style rings.
Cheers
Kristin :)K S Jewellery Designshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429956525981139120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7068961476522299574.post-19971402554833380202013-07-05T16:37:19.283+01:002013-07-05T16:37:19.283+01:00Beautiful!Beautiful!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7068961476522299574.post-30610771393414452692013-07-05T16:03:48.835+01:002013-07-05T16:03:48.835+01:00Oh, It's beautiful! The reason I have not done much in rings is that I feel like the style of ring you can make with wire wrapping doesn't look professional enough for my taste in rings, but this one does. Good for you for tackling something so different! Your class sounds so fun!
Janicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13874257412958004222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7068961476522299574.post-67854102334533671872013-07-05T15:54:03.849+01:002013-07-05T15:54:03.849+01:00Thanks Christine! With this one it is new tools and materials. Along with my ring mandrel, I also ordered some faceted stones. Now, there's my new challenge - how to set those types of beads.
Thank you for stopping by.
Kristin :)K S Jewellery Designshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429956525981139120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7068961476522299574.post-43280034520991224522013-07-05T15:01:37.612+01:002013-07-05T15:01:37.612+01:00Good for you the challenges you are rising to in y...Good for you the challenges you are rising to in your metals class. Wanting pieces to be perfect, it is difficult when learning new techniques to find an unfixable flaw. You inspire me to take on new challenges with the torch.
