Hmm... I'm better now...
Hmm... Christmas is over...
Hmm... my birthday is over...
Hmm... New Year's Eve is over...
Hmm... the kids are back at school...
Hmm... I'm back to my teaching jobs...
Hmm... life is back to normal...
... so, why have I not picked up my wire and tools and made any new jewellery yet? My mojo is well and truly missing! All through my illness and the festive period I didn't worry as I was quite enjoying the break. But now it is getting silly!

Sending Mojo thru the internet just for you!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you mywifesstudio - I really appreciate that. I was trying not to worry about my lack of motivation but it's beginning to irritate me now!
ReplyDeleteKristin :)
I overdosed on jewelry making in 2009 and in 2010 it took me 5 months to even want to look at metal! My mojo came back though - your's will too. I'm sure it's just right around the corner - take a look!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandy - lovely to hear from you, thanks for stopping by and for your reassurance.
ReplyDeleteThis happened to me once before in Summer 2009 after a week's holiday. It took nearly 2 months before I was back in the swing of jewellery making. I have to find that 'thing' that will help me ease back into it. I do have a prospective commission in the pipeline, maybe completing that will help. We shall have to see...
Kristin :)
Hi Kristin,
ReplyDeleteTry something with a completely different medium - paints, cards, felt, sewing, anything. And don't be too hard on yourself!
Take care
Vicky
This seems to be a pretty common theme with a lot of artists at this time of year, myself included. After so many distractions at the end of the year, it's really hard to get back into a groove. I believe that the mojo-carrying muses will return when the time is right... we need to be patient!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicky - you're so right, I should stop worrying and do something else for a while. Last time I turned to my garden, but that was in the summer time. At this time of year, that distraction is not so tempting!
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you.
Kristin :)
Hi Deborah - great to hear from you. I'm glad I'm not the only one whose muse has gone on holiday. Your advice is very sound although patience is not one of my strengths! I shall try sketching some ideas and hopefully eventually feel the desire to pick up my tools to create.
