Dive In - Fluorite Sterling Silver Spiral Adorned Earrings

I don't often 'name' my jewellery, opting for more of a 'describing' title. However, as I was photographing these earrings yesterday, I was taken down memory lane.... the colour of the fluorite beads and how the light shone through took me back to Koh Samui many years ago.... sitting on a little wooden boat looking down into the crystal clear turquoise sea with little coloured fishes darting around.... oh, happy days!

Teardrops and raindrops

Regular readers of my blog will remember the gorgeous green swirly beads I won from lovely Jenn of Kanna Glass last month. Yesterday I decided I had been looking at the beads for long enough and was ready to make something with them. I knew I wanted to design something quite simple as the beads would be the main focus but I also wanted to feel there was a bit of 'me' in the design. Here are my Teardrop Earrings.

I took the above photo in my garden but believe me it wasn't easy as the weather has been very changeable today and I was running in and out of the house trying to dodge the raindrops! Then whilst I was waiting for the rain to stop I made this matching Teardrop Pendant.

Both earrings and pendant are now for sale in my Etsy shop.

Returning to silver clay

A friend of mine recently bought a pair of my 'Hammered Fine Silver Disc Earrings' but when they arrived she decided she actually want them to be much bigger. It's been a while, but I got out my silver clay and tools the other evening and got to work. I had forgotten how much fun it is to work with art clay silver and soon had used up a whole 20g pack creating different textured discs for earrings and pendants.

Here are the 'Hammered Disc Earrings' I made. They are significantly BIGGER than the original pair (nearly 2cm in diameter). My friend was happy with these and wore them straight away.

Next up are my 'Pebbles Textured Disc Earrings' - slightly larger than I normally make.

And finally, (for now, as I still have lots more pieces to brush, sand, burnish, hammer, polish...) I tried a new shape. These are my 'Aubrietia Flower Earrings', named after the beautiful purple flowers that have been spreading in my garden. They are dainty little earrings that sit just below your earlobe. I was really pleased how these turned out as I managed to find a way to secure the flowers to my handmade ball earwires so the flowers don't slip off the earwires when you're not wearing them.

The last two pairs of earrings are up for sale in my Etsy store.

Flowers in my garden

I was outside this morning taking photos of my latest jewellery pieces (more about that to follow in another post) but I got distracted with the beautiful spring flowers in my garden. A lot of these beauties are self-sown - nature is so kind to me.

Busy

Last week and weekend were really busy for me. I had a stall at a fair on Saturday, so last week I had my head down making up some extra stock and taking as many pictures as possible.

The fair went okay, although it was mainly my lower priced pieces of jewellery that sold the best. No worries though as I now have lots of stock to offer to the shops I sell in and I shall also be listing some of the following jewellery in my Etsy and Folksy online shops over the next few days.

Doubly lucky

What a lucky girl I am, I can't believe it - I won not one but TWO giveaways at the weekend!

My first win was this beautiful pink ribbon heart pendant I blogged about a while ago from Mel of Kookie Designs. And my second lucky win was this lovely Lilac Chain Maille Bracelet from Jo of Jolicious.
Thank you so much to both designers. I will wear your jewellery with pride (and if I feel brave enough, I might even post a photo of me doing so).
From the pictures they look like they will go very well together so it must have been fate that helped me win or maybe I'm having a lucky streak..... I'm off to buy a lottery ticket tomorrow!
