Coiled Jewel Bangle - The First

Following on from my Coiled Jewel Pendants and Coiled Jewel Earrings, I have been working on this Coiled Jewel Bangle. I am calling it 'The First' as I feel it is the first of many...

The design needs a little modification to make the front part of the bangle more sturdy - I think the circle needs to be complete or smaller or I might try thicker wire. Maybe now is the time for some lessons in soldering - I always knew that my journey would lead me there one day but am I ready?

My head is buzzing at the moment with new ideas for different shaped bangles. I love the problem solving process I have to go through to turn my ideas into reality. It is so satisfying when you create something from your own design and it works!

  1. Oh that is sooo yummy! Can I eat it?
I love what you do with the simplicity (meant in a very good way of course) of your designs Kristin. Have you thought about fusing wire rather than soldering? I've not soldered yet either, but have played with fusing a couple of time. I find it mesmerizing and exciting. But if you don't want to do either that's great too. It's so much fun to see what we achieve without it. And I've got to agree with Eve, - what a clever design!

  2. Thank you Eve and Shay for your lovely comments. I certainly found this bangle very satisying to make (inspite of the sturdy issue).

Shay - I know what you mean about 'simplicity' and you're right, I do like to create simple designs. I don't seem to have the patience to work on something for days and days - I end up leaving those projects half-finished! I like your idea about fusing and have just ordered some thick fine silver wire, so will give that a go when it arrives. This is something I have wanted to try for a while. I'll let you know how I get on.
    Kristin :)

  4. Oh cool.. can't wait to see what you do with fusing. It's funny how different we all are in our processes as far as simple vs a more ornate design go. I tend to do both, but often wish I would settle more with the simple stuff. I'm just like you - If I work a more ornate project, I'm at it for a couple of days then I need to put it away and not look at it for a long while! LOL.. You'd think I'd just do the quicker stuff but Noooooo..
Sometimes I try simpler but when I look at it it just doesn't feel done, yet I look at your work and it looks perfectly done. You have the touch:)
