Chalcedony Square Blossom Sterling Silver Pendant
Combining metalwork and wirework techniques, this pendant features a seemingly glowing blue chalcedony cabochon which I have set within an organic shaped wire blossom. I had a shape/design in mind when I started making this pendant but the petal details sort of 'grew' as I was creating it. This is my favourite kind of jewellery making as the end product can be a pleasant surprise!

Such a beautiful coloured stone and a wonderful design to showcase it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you SMJ
DeleteI really love this blue chalcedony, I've not used this gemstone much and I'm not sure why!
Hope you are keeping well.
Kristin :)
That's beautiful, I love the shape :D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Tracy!
DeleteI am really drawn to this petal shape and have used it in a few other pieces and about to use it in more designs (variations of this pendant).
All the best
Kristin :)
Oh you totally make me want to explore more in the wire work department. That pendant is lovely ♥
ReplyDeleteThanks lch - funny old world isn't it... I look at your work and you inspire me too - inspire me to improve my metalwork skills with the lovely shapes you create from metal! My wirework ideas come from doodles and shapes I see anywhere and everywhere (sometimes when I close my eyes, shapes and swirls pop up!). I have also started to create a piece of jewellery and lie it down on a piece of paper and draw extra shapes around or within it and then think how I can recreate this with wire. That's how the extra detail on this pendant came about.
DeleteHappy 2014 to you - hope all is well with you and your family.
