I developed these leaf drop earrings over the weekend and am very happy with how they turned out.
Sterling Silver Leaf Drop Earrings
They swing freely from long earwires with such lovely movement. After sawing and piercing the leaf drop shapes, I spent a long time filing, sanding and polishing them to a bright shine. As they have a slight curve, created in my doming block, they really catch the light beautifully.

I love the shape. They would look great made with some textured metal too (but then I would say that!)
ReplyDeleteYes Tracy, I totally agree! The only textured metal I currently have is leaf textured. I did plan to do more at my silversmithing course but am not attending it this term. I'll have to wait to make more textures in the summer term but am definitely going to check out that texture supplier you recommended. In the meantime, I am contemplating how to use this shape in different ways by maybe hammering a texture or adding embellishments.

I love these, love the simplicity of them, and how the design works really well with the earwires - I love it when earrings and wires work together just right. Well worth the effort put in :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much SMJ for such great feedback, glad you like these, sometimes simple is all that is needed, Kristin :)
