Leaf Drop Earrings - movement and shine

I developed these leaf drop earrings over the weekend and am very happy with how they turned out.

They swing freely from long earwires with such lovely movement.  After sawing and piercing the leaf drop shapes, I spent a long time filing, sanding and polishing them to a bright shine.  As they have a slight curve, created in my doming block, they really catch the light beautifully.

I think the Christmas break did me and my mojo a lot of good as I feel afresh with new design ideas and currently have the time to explore them...

Chalcedony Square Blossom Sterling Silver Pendant

 

Combining metalwork and wirework techniques, this pendant features a seemingly glowing blue chalcedony cabochon which I have set within an organic shaped wire blossom.  I had a shape/design in mind when I started making this pendant but the petal details sort of 'grew' as I was creating it.  This is my favourite kind of jewellery making as the end product can be a pleasant surprise!

Obsession with flowers

For five years as a wirework jewellery maker, I endeavoured to find lots of different ways to include flowers into my designs.  This obsession has carried through to my metalwork jewellery.

My flower designs are invariably simplistic and certainly not anatomically correct, however, the shapes and curves within flowers call out to me.  A few years ago my garden was blooming with lots of different flowers I had grown from seed now I make them instead!
